just heard a mind-blowing sermon on the dangers of self-deceit of being a Christian when in fact you are not.

Taken from Matthew 7:22-23:
Many will say to me "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?" Then I will tell them plainly, "I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoes."

To me this a disquieting and discomforting verse. How many of us fall into the self-deceit of thinking that they are Christians when in fact they are not. And how can we be sure that on the Day the lord comes, he will not say to us "I never knoew you. away from me, you evildoers."

A few verses before that, verse 13-14
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enters through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

And the general outlook seems difficult. In one of the first few sermons Jesus has ever preached (Matthews 5:20), He said,
"For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpass that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven."

God also said that we must be perfect just as He is perfect. This seems to be impossible, as how we are all sinners and God is perfect. It is not humanly possible and there is nothing that we can do to achieve that. It is only possible through the justification by God. He gave us Jesus, so that he can take away our sins, and give us righteousness. We are made perfect through Christ.

This is the biggest distinction between human works, which is all about self-righteousness, and divine accomplishment, which is all about faith. That is what distinguishes Christianity from all other religions in the world.

Ultimately, the biggest step is to realise that we are spiritually destitute. To be spiritually means we have to acknowledge that we have nothing. We are not sick, or ill, or diseased. We are "dead in our transgressions and sins" (Ephesians 2:1).

And in the beatitudes (Matthews 5:3), blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. I have difficulty understanding this at first, but it means realising that we are spiritually empty and we need Jesus in our lives.

And lastly, why the way to kingdom of God is narrow and few are able to find it, is because the demands of getting to heaven are so high. He asks us to deny ourselves, take up His Cross and follow Him (Luke 9:23).

SO... it is important to understand what it means to confess Jesus as our Lord and to become a member of His kingdom.

Personally, i felt that my response has been inadequate all these while and was quite struck my this online sermon. I pray that I will be able to act upon this message and ask for guidance to walk upon the narrow path that leads to life.

Great sermon overall. I recommend listening to it. Even if you do not have the time to listen to it, MAKE TIME!

This was long overdue, but yea i shall write my new year's resolution for this year

Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, i urge you brothers in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

To be a living sacrifice means that i have to devote my life fully to God, which means obeying all his commands and keeping all His decrees. Not an easy resolution for this year, haha... Lots of challenge as there are many things that will attempt to set my sights away from God, but keep praying that i will stay firm to this resolution. So that when i look back in 2011, i can see my growth and thank God for it.

Compare this to when Isaac was being offered as a living sacrifice, literally, by his father Abraham. He was oblivious at first. He said the wood and fire was ready, but where is the sacrificial lamb? Abraham said God will provide, but later he bound Isaac to be sacrificed, as instructed by God. And then God, convinced by his faith, sent an angel to stop him. The story here showed that Abraham feared the Lord enough to sacrifice his only son Isaac as God had instructed.

But what about Isaac's side of the story? he could have easily broken off, struggled, screamed or outrun his hundred years old father. But the bible did not show any signs of struggle. He was willing to be sacrificed as an offering to the end. We should be like Isaac, ready to obey God to the end.

Now, there is no longer any need for any sacrifice, as Jesus was the last Sacrifice that has paid our penalties, once and for all on the cross. Now what it means to be a living sacrifice is to forsake our old self and live our lives for God.

And the next part of the resolution, is to not conform to the ways of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind. This world does not offer salvation. Instead, it gives us empty sense of security and tries to keep us away from God. Therefore, we should not set our sights on this world. Instead, we should renew our minds and set our sights on God. We should be ready to offer ourselves as living sacrifices.

These 2 verses are really deep haha... and i am barely scratching the surface. If i were to continue, i can go on and on and on. But i am not good at writing these kind of deep stuffs haha, so i shall stop here. Hope i can listen to sermons on these 2 verses sometime in the future.

Merry Christmas to everyone!!! actually, to anyone who happens to still be reading my blog haha... havent updated in ages, so i guess i shld just post an entry once in a while to maintain it.

Christmas, a season of giving? yep! but most people expect gifts instead of giving to other people. Christmas reminds us of the most wonderful gift possible that God has sent to us, and the sacrifice of His Son Jesus so that we can have salvation.

and just as God who loved us so much, we should give our lives to him. To serve Him and to serve others as well in His name.

tts something that i have listened to many times over and over again, but to actually apply that into our lives is still a challenge and i need to be reminded over and over again.

Love, a simple word, but carries with it a profound and powerful message.

okay. i feel like i am in a reflective mode right now. too deep already haha... oh wells back to more superficial stuff, cuz i am not quite suited to this kind of deep stuff haha...

on a lighter note, spending christmas back in my church is such an awesome thing. Maybe its a different kind of atmosphere to FOCUS, but yea it feels heartwarming to be back with in my family church. From sunday school choirs, to young adults worship and song dedications by the old people. Everyone is worshiping together as a whole church. And its so encouraging to see my fellow youths who are still so passionate in serving the Lord.

And yesterday for christmas eve, went to GRII to attend Stephen Tong's sermon. Was really amazed by the number of people attending, even some of the people from the government are there. And my favourite part was when we light up each other's candles from the front to the back.

yep Christmas is as usual this year. I learnt the same message as I did last year. And i thank God that i can still enjoy Christmas with family and friends =D

AFA 2009

Just went for cosplaying at AFA again. Wanted to upload all the pics up on my blog, but quite daunted and unwilling to start due to the massive number of photos taken.

Unfortunately, i pressed "delete all" button on my Day 1 photos, so i only have day 2 photos with me now.

Anyway AFA is such a great event. Had cosplayers from singapore, malaysia, indonesia, thailand and phillipines all gathering at suntec convention hall. Famous people from japan, like ichirou mizuki (aka the great aniki), shoko-tan and may'n (macross frontier seiyuu + singer) came and gave concerts for the event. Even Dannychoo (famous anime blogger) was present for the event.

There was also the Moe moe kyun maid cafe, where moe girls dressed up in maid uniform serve us with food. They occasionally have a bit of fan service, like a game of jan-ken-pon in which the loser have to serve us tea. and the way they clumsily and shyly serve the food are also part of the attraction too. hahaha...

haha now that exams are over, holidays have started and i am now back home in singapore, i am gonna revive my blog again after a 2 months' time of hibernation.

i feel so guilty of not bloggging for such a long time already haha... shall just write of what has been happening since exams are over haha...

packing is such a torture. Have been packing my room for the past 3 days until sunrise, cuz i need to vacate my room for the holidays and i didnt realise i have so much things. lol. sleep is a real blessing at such times cuz i only manage to catch about 5 hours of sleep for the past 3 days. gg!

Thursday 12/11/09 12.30pm, exams are OFFICIALLY OVER!!! hahahaa... woo
went to boon's hse to chill for awhile with jordan. Played guitar and learned a new song, which really just requires 3 chords only hahaha... still a noob.

Then ria's 21st birthday celebration at the sydney tower. Rotating restaurant at probably an angular velocity of one revolution per hour. Costs us $70 in total but the place is definetely worth the price. Well, i guess i must go there at least once in my lifetime hahaha...

the baxter college people celebrating ria's 21st. Took a huge effort to keep her deluded with the idea of going to lowenbraugh but ended up taking her about a thousand feet (300m) above ground. Dun ask me how i remember the height. i checked wiki hahaha... on a sidenote, lying is harder than i thought. tat's why telling the truth is so much simpler.

Then, went off for end-of-session party at the Palace. met up with some of my SG classmates too haha...

almost lost my key there, which would have costs me $150 if some kind soul did not have found it for me. haha... didnt even realise it missing.

Friday chengchon, richard, victor, edward and I went off to clain's place for okonomiyaki, courtesy of clain for this year's PA team. we did a great job haha...

clain telling us that okonomiyaki is unhealthy, but nevertheless its nice so who cares haahahaha

at night, we had IBF farewells for some of us who are leaving, which are really sad moments because there are a few who will be gg off for good.

Then on saturday went off to play basketball with some church friends at Moore's park. was quite drained at the end cuz i had packed till 6am in the morning and only managed to catch 3 hrs of sleep. GG!

After that, we all headed off to jonny's house up in north syndey, pennant hills. Quite a long ride there. And we had heaps of fun. Like awesome time. hahaha...
So sad that this is gonna be our meeting together cuz jonny and joyce will be leaving us next year T__T

Then afternoon went off for church, which will be my last session this year. And then had dinner up at kingsford together.

Monday, is the day which i left for singapore. WOOHOO!!! feel the excitement man, even though right now i am already back in singapore hahaha... went off to weibin's house before that for our one-to-one session for prayers and encouragements before leaving.

haha as soon as i got back, i fell asleep in the car of exhaustion. next moment i woke up, i was at sentosa island and my mom took me to a dinner at Amara hotel. haha... My distant uncle is getting married next month and we had food tasting there.

And the day before my HM-B exams, i was really distracted cuz the idols results was coming out on wednesday night. so i kept thinking abt it and couldnt concentrate on studying haha... couldn't pick a worse timing to watch his performance.

I just went to the zoo last saturday with some of my church peeps. Part of the reason we went there also is to celebrate loulynn and karen's birthday (they want to celebrate with animals instead of humans). It was an awesome experience, although i think it was a bit expensive haha... Nevertheless, enjoyed the company as well as the animals there

My glorious 21st birthday

havent blogged in a reaaally long time. i guess its abt a month by now.

Anyway exams is just over, so I have more free time at hand. Life has been good and i am enjoying my start of a new course (Aging and Endings). This time i am exempting myself from assignments, so hopefully life will be good haha...

Anyway i just have to blog abt my 21st birthday haha, cuz it feels special to have people celebrating it with me. Didnt organise any party because 1) lazy 2) exams are coming 3) waste money 4) having birthday party for myself feels girly 5) i prefer being suprised.

haha... thats quite a lot of reasons.

First suprise is by Klement, Qi Hui and Amy

This one is really suprising since it was like 5 days before my actualy birthday and i totally didnt expect it haha... Thanks for the suprise and the cakes, man.

Next is on the night the clock strikes 12 on my birthday. This one is by my college peeps, and i was already sleeping then. Sharon called me out of the blue to say that she got stuck outside without her card, so i went down to open the door for her. And so, before I can get to the entrance, i got suprised again along the way when they jumped out of the common room haha... so sweet guys!

Next is by the medicine peep. They came in 7am in the morning, when i was still sleeping, so this is what i look like. Eyes still closed and hair all over the place haha...

The cake that Jordan and Mike stayed up to make till 4am the night before. Very good for their first attempt at baking a cheese cake. Put it in the common fridge and the next day it got stolen by someone from college T__T at least i have eaten a large part of it haha, but still... *heart pain*

Then the next day had a lunch together with my bible study group. Haha... thanks guys for the awesome birthday card. Had dimsum. Ate lots of it, and it only cost $14 per person haha... wld definitely come here again next time.

I went on the second day of the event, which is on sunday (yesterday). Arrived there and it was filled with lots of people and cosplayers, as usual. Its an event where people from across states come to participate in. And luckily i managed to get there early and escape the long queue haha... thats because the event is just held outside my doorstep, at the roundhouse. Saves the time spent on travelling.

Anyway it is my first time cosplaying, and as yoite from Nabari no Ou. Since its kind of a new anime (2008-2009), many didnt know of the character. But I'm quite suprised that there are quite a number who does. Anyway, this is how the character looks like....

haha... i think its not too bad, considering i dont have the right gloves and hairstyle. Gotta get a wig soon. But mmm cosplaying feels so fun and satisfying haha... The feeling of being appreciated when someone yells out "YOITE!!!" haha...

and also since the weather is cold i think its a good idea to cosplay someone wearing warm clothes like him, unlike those people shivering in their short pants and miniskirts.

well thats the end. First cosplay experience: success!! haha... not too bad. kinda feel that i should have come for the first day instead since there were more people and more event. But can't make it because of the tree-top challenge with my bible study group. I will blog more abt that soon.

On a lighter note, there is one more cosplay event coming next month, Animania '09, which is on 5-6 sept. And thats one month before HM exam. GG!! oh wells. paid for the tickets already so i'll definitely be going.

Left early for church afterwards. Had dinner at Golden Tower with my group, and then all the singaporeans, med peeps and focus alike, gather together at the Aeora Exchange to watch the National Day parade together, live on channel 5 website. Haha... the experience of watching together with fellow overseas Singaporean is so much more fun than watching at home, cuz it makes u feel more proud of your country after being away from it for so long. I guess absence makes the heart fonder. haha...

After saying so much, i just realised that i am not exactly singaporean. sighz...

just spent a week in singapore. Did as much thing as i can before i leave for indo ahaha... and i am satisfied with the time spent there. I eat whatever i wanted to eat, met whoever i wanted to meet (not all though, sry zhar) and bought everything that need to be bought.

came to singapore on sunday. spent my days with my family most of the time.

Tuesday went to chomp2 to eat with my church friends from ORPC: hanxiang, hanyi, dominic, brandon, lenard and joshua. My old peeps from our old bible study groups.

Wednesday went to kallang with my family and uncle to eat a bowl of prawn mee, then went clarke quay with klement, minsheng, shamini and leeanna. Ate OKUNIYAKI!!! haha... delicious thing. i didnt know they have those in singapore. Me and my sis were like dying to go japan to try this out, but quite suprised to find it here. V nice and filling, but i still hold my dream to go japan to try this out haha...

Then went out with karen for tea at sun with moon. And finally head off to ang mo kio for dinner at S11 with my cat high friends and then play lan till midnight haha... in total i ate 2 lunches and 2 dinners on that day. fatness written all over my belly!!!

Thursday met up with my old JC friends. Went to suntec and ate crystal jade. And vril just came back from US!!! still the same old vril as 2 years ago. *phew* haha... i was worried she gonna get all americanised and start speaking punk lingo. haha...

Friday went to meet up with Justin for the last time before he head off to US to fulfill his dream of studying medicine. Now he will be on the other side of the world, like i can drill through australia all the way down and end up i San francisco, but that is so totally random. Probably too much cranium haha... haha... its been a month. time to update again. well this is old, but exams are over!!! haha... havent been getting much sleep since. Thats quite ironic cuz i was supposed to be sleeping more after the exams are over, but since everyone are awake at night and asleep during the day and i gotta pack up my room, my sleep cycle has been screwed. mmm.... my sleep log: thursday - 4 hrs. friday - 5 hrs. saturday - 4 hrs. sunday - 2 hrs. wheee...

And monday is so tiring. i have to pack up my room by 10, try to stuff everything into one wardrobe and the rest have to be carried down to storehouse, then meet people at basser and shalom and blenheim st, then go to airport and wait 3 hrs for my flight. 8 hrs in flight, with 1 hr of flight. Arrive in singapore for transit, my mom drive me home, repack my stuff and i only got 2 hrs of sleep. 6hrs later i was back at the airport waiting for my flight back to indo. And 2 hrs later i arrive back in indo. Got home, put down my stuff and i finally embraced my long-awaited eternal slumber!

oh wells. for now i shall just blog abt my time in sydney. On the thursday after exam, went down to mulwaree to have a huge feast together and celebrated mf's bday. Then at night, me and klement decided to cook something for the baxter people and invited jane along. I did the indonesian fried rice (again) and he cooked some dimsums. Started at 11pm and lasted all the way to 4-5am. Thats nearly 6 hrs. But most of the time we spent on eating and talking with other baxter people. Apparently the smell got carried around in college through the confined corridors and many people started to come out of their rooms and kope some of our food.

was rather satisfied with our results...

friday was also spent playing around and packing my room. Had mingfei's suprise bday party again, and then bible study at night and then BOARD GAMES our night away at andy's hse haha... Played catan for nearly 4 hrs and ended up going home at about 4am at night/morning.

Saturday was THE highlight. hahaha... anime cosplay event at the olympic stadium. will just upload pics on that. The crowd was reaally huge!

Sunday spent most of my time packing again and had farewell for quite a few of my college friends cuz its the last official date on college and many of them are leaving for good T__T

Then we went off to church in the afternoon, had my last fellowship dinner at anzac before i leave. Then we went off to andy's hse again at night. And once we got hungry at midnight, we drove down to pancakes on the rocks for supper.

And then monday was my long and tiring journey back from sydney to singapore and to indo, as mentioned at the start of the post.

And yesterday i just got back to singapore again, which makes it the third flight i have taken in this week. I will be taking a total of SIX flights in this holiday overall hahahahahaha.... *cries*

once again, exam is around the corner. No mood to blog, but i feel that i should still do it once it a while. sigh haha...

Nothing much happening for these few weeks. Went for jonny and joyce's engagement party last week.

and yesterday we had a home study for our bible study session. We all went to mingfei's hse to hang out and eat dinner together and played LOTS of board games haha... Jungle speed, charades etc. Didnt get the chance to play cranium though, so sad.

I went earlier to cook indo fried rice with mingfei, while the rest brought their own share.

some other random things that happened during the week. For this course my project group did the teamwork project, which involves peer teaching. For my part i decided to include balloon models and dances to teach gastrointestinal motility, ie peristalsis, segmentation and migrating motility complex (MMC).

And yesterday was the last day of our focus team 'Follow up' session. Had a great time learning how to follow up with new christians. And our leader, James, did a really good job training us for these past 10 weeks.

mmm... assignments and projects are piling up again. And i am yet to find the True Person to facilitate me for my ILP project next year. There are so many professors and doctors to choose from. rawr! *spoilt for choice*

I havent blogged since my exams ended. It has been, like, 2 weeks since. So, i'll just briefly upload some of the pics i have taken since then...

went to eat the at hurricanes to try out their famous ribs everybody is talking about. Personally i feel that its the same as Tony Roma's we have back in singapore, but still, its really nice and definitely cheaper! haha...

and then we had yum cha oso on the next day down at anzac. Went there with my bible study group. This one is kinda a rip-off cuz we ended up paying $20 per person.

and this is the best dessert EVER! Awesomeness Incarnate. i have not eaten any dessert better than this man. Mango Pancake. With mango slices and ice cream inside.

Then, went for T-yunn and yanni's housewarming, which i didnt take any pictures at all on that day, so no pics to share, except this. Taken when we were siting outside the dining hall, waiting for the rain to stop.

And recently i have developed 'cranium' craze

I just bought the game last week and have been playing it for 5 days for the past one week. Haha... its a really fun game, which includes charades, singing, drawing, sculpting, language quiz and trivias. And usually can play with about 15 people.

This saturday went to Dan and Fat's house to revisit our old beloved bible study leaders again. Decided to buy some flowers for their house

And it's horribly dirty. The entire performance had lots of sex scenes and orgasm sounds thrown about and i was cringing in my seat.

I am sure some of them had a shock of their lives. Unless, they are proud of it, then i really got nothing to say.

one week has passed since the easter camp...

Now one more week exams. In fact, only 5 more days left to study T__T now back to my old life of living in the library and drown myself with notes and lectures. Quite the contrast from last week haha...

Anyway shall just write up a brief post of the past week so far. I still owe an entry of the church camp, which i will probably write after the exams cuz its quite a big one. Lots of pics i wanna upload too ^v^

BBQ with my church peeps again at maroubra beach last week. The plan is to welcome the newcomers more and make sure those that didnt go for the church camp doesnt feel left out haha... The best BBQ i've ever been cuz ashley and jack are such amazing cook and the food they made is amazing. tres bien

And then went to cousin Donny's graduation, right after my clinicals (tts why i was dressed formally in the photo). I was really happy for him cuz he finally graduated (with honours) and he got a job even before he graduated. I wonder if i could be as lucky as him next time hmm hmm...

And then my last SGS session with the year 3s, before we rotated with the year 1s. Becoming a senior (big tai-kor) seems too surreal for me haha... i can't imagine having someone that looks up to me next time haha... haha... haaaaa... *smiles* but thats a huge responsibility too hmm

Anyway we had a huge feast with my SGS group during our last session. It was great cuz i really love my SGS, compared with my previous 2 that i had during foundations and BGD. I actually stayed with this SGS for HM, A&E and S&H, so we go quite a while back and shared a long history haha...

Church Camp - Port Hackings

I just went on another church camp this year. But this time i am part of the organising comittee, in charge of the game night with minhui. I have been preparing for 3 weeks beforehand for the games, and Thank God it was good. At least everybody had fun =D haha... I was so nervous and panic-striken the day before, but in the end i decided to leave everything up to God. yeah...

now that the camp is over, i kinda miss it.
"I'm having a camp withdrawal syndrome." (beat, 2009)

wells... now that i have the entire one-week easter break ahead, i gotta chiong through the lecture debts i have been piling up over the past few weeks. If not, I'M GONNA FAIL!!!!

hmmm i shall upload the pics first. And then i shall post up whatever i have learnt through the camp sometime later. Basically the camp is teaching us about sexuality and marriage. v impt! Totally changed my views about sex and marriage.

Went to the city recital hall for Fat's graduation from Moore College. Havent seen them in awhile. Really really happy and touched to see them, but not the kind of tearful reunion that some of you might expect. haha...

And just yesterday, i went for floor night out with my floor (B2) and C2. We went to a teppanyaki restaurant somewhere in the city. The food there is incredible!!! Its fun watching some of the angmohs trying to learn how to use chopsticks wahaha... quite amusing. Although there are some who are quite pro at it.

And they are really amused by the idea of teppanyaki. And when the chefs make the beef catch on fire using oil and matchstick, they were like, "whoooaaww! geez, mate! this is f****ing kewl! awesome duuude, seriously!"

And the chefs are such fun people. They like, throw eggs at us and make us catch it with a bowl, and then throw food into our mouth, and throw fried rice bowls at us and make us catch it. haha... this is the most entertaining teppanyaki in my life.done

it has been 2 weeks since i came back to sydney. ahaha... took me less time than expected to adjust back to the life here. Probably its because i was kinda happy to start school again after slacking for such a long time during the holidays.

well... today i went to Blue's point with my BS groups to have a welcome picnic for some of the newcomers. It was a reaaally beautiful place. Went there before last year so it kinda brings back memories too... when i was once young and lively... *sigh* Played captain's ball and frisbee too, under the hot hot sun. And now, i'm overcooked!

Pics should be up once i get a hold of it. Forgot to bring my camera, so i just have to wait for someone to upload all the pics haha...

Went back home at around 4pm. Then, me and jordan went over to Prince of Wales hospital to find some patients to be interviewed for our communications assignment. Haha... got some good subjects, but there are some failed ones too... One got a really bad emphysema and couldnt carry on the interview. mmm... epic phail!

But at least i manage to find a good one and probably might use that for my assignment. hmm... but then again i might probably go back and try again next week. hopefully it would be better. After that I was stuck in jordan's hse for a looong time because of the heavy rain. Played left4dead, which kept crashing cuz jordan's com hates me :(

Some other highlights... went for Amazing G'Race organised by my church last week. Really awesome. Went around the city for an amazing race kind of thing. Ran between QVB to Paddy's Market to Darling Harbour to Opera House and finally to Rocks Market. Eventually my group came in second haha... No pics once again, so will upload once i get some of it.

this post is totally random haha, but it will be fun posting this up lol.

I went to provence bakery down at holland village yesterday. I saw these 2 confectioneries that seems really familiar from animes, and so i decided to buy 2 of each haha...

first up is MELON-PAN!

Well known from the series Shakugan no Shana, this bread is always seen in Shana's mouth. She always eat melon-pan, and only melon-pan. And she looks adorable eating melon-pan. Since then, melon-pan has always been shana's trademark item.

And the next one is CHOCOLATE CORONET.

This chocolate filled bread is made famous from the anime "Lucky Star". This is what she always had every recess breaks.

And the funny thing is the chocolate cream will always leak out from the base

Hence the plastic cover at the end...

yup these are the 2 anime-featured japanese confectioneries that i find interesting haha... I didnt know it would make it to singapore. There was even a "battle of the confectioneries" held by KKnM last year:

my vote still goes to... Chocolate coronet!!! cuz the chocolate filling is just awesome! haha... The melon-pan feels abit plain for me, and the melon taste is too mild for my liking.

hmm.. hadnt blogged in a long time again. haha... one week left T__T and i am still not mentally prepared to go back haha... ohnoes.

The past week has been wonderful. Maybe i should just briefly jot down some of my memories for the past week haha in case i forget them and i can look back upon my blog to reminisce (and feel old).

Last wednesday, Darren came over at my place and stayed over. We had a good catch up and MonsterHunting. And on thursday, we ate together at newton and after which, I met up with my lovely 14o5 over movie (he's just not that into you) and a hearty dinner at marina. Loved this pic of us by the esplanade

And then on saturday I attended 2 bday parties with the med peeps. Went for doie's party first and then christie's. And then we drove down together to bedok blk 85 for supper.

Sunday went to ORPC, which would be my last church session for this entire holiday T__T. (but at least I had a good lunch session with some of the youths and young adults the previous week haha..., so all's well). And then, in the afternoon, I went over to Marcus' house with Darren.

And lastly, yesterday I met up with Nian and Ying at orchard over dinner and for some shopping.

Feeling so free and so happy-at-home-doing-nothing that i feel like blogging once again haha...

In the sermon i went yesterday by Pastor Stephen Tong, he mentioned about why we cannot see God and i think its really worth to be shared.

Anything that can be seen in this world has the nature of a matter. And God created every matter in the this world. God, however, is never a part of His own creation. Therefore, God cannot be visible as it is a characteristic of His creation.

In a similar concept, God can also transcend time and space as they too are part of His creation.

But still, God sent down His Son as fully human, into the created world, to bring salvation to us, His creation

"No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known" (John 1:18)

I was reading this post i stumbled across randomly... it says "blogging is so last year". Now, people rather twitters and plurks.

I was like =.= and o.O at that comment. What is so fun about twitting and plurking that it can beat blogging. I mean, you sms something once in a while to ur twitpage and, and the same time ur friends will get an sms update. "i am drinking coffee"... "i am sitting through a boring lecture"... "i am in the toilet for hours constipating"... "I am having fun with puberty"... That is pure spamming.

but after watching the video presentation at the twitter website, i was like =D and XDXD and i changed my mind. I think it was quite fun after all haha... I guess i am just easily influenced. But there's no way i'm going to start twitting or plurking. Blogging is time-consuming enough on its own and i'm happy with it.

... I am actually talking about current affairs and DISCUSSING it. whoo... this is rare.

Speaking of current affairs, some parts of australia is now hitting above 45 degrees. I am just glad that its not sydney. ... Ok, this is not exactly new either cuz its so last week, but its worth a mention cuz its really shocking.

Alright, enough with current affairs and back to my life. Went out with izhar on wednesday around orchard, then dhoby ghaut and ended up spending the whole afternoon in paradiz. Its really great to catch up after like... 1 year. Its funny cuz we used to meet EVERYDAY in JC life and there is not a day when i wouldnt see him. We even studied together everyday (excluding wednesday which is our rest day) in school from dismissal up till school gate closes at 8pm, since prelim up all the way to A levels. Even saturdays and sundays were not spared. We continue to meet up at national library and the cathay building basements and chiong our notes.

But after that, he got consumed and swallowed entirely by NS life, and soon i also went off overseas, so it has just been msn-ing all the while. But he is still the old him and I'm the new me who is more wise and independent, so its all good haha...

Then, on thursday met up with my old bible study group from orpc: dominic, hanxiang, hanyi and lenard. And we ate at city hall NYNY. Hans took up the burger challenge, which is worth $30 but will be given free if you can finish it alone. Well... hans was hungry and felt like he was up to it, so...

And yesterday I had a fellowship with the focus peeps at ARPC for our third seminar. More on that coming soon. I will probably dedicate an entry on the things i learnt haha... so please keep a look out for it.

its been like more than a month since i last blogged haha... (my tagboard's dead too) totally no mood to update my blog cuz its the holidays and there is other better things to do. Like gaming wif PS3 and Xbox360 mwahaha...

Its been about 2 weeks since i came to singapore. My stay in indo before that was quite uneventful, (hence no posts to share). Came back on the 20th jan for cny

Speaking of cny, it has always been the same every year. Bai nian everyone and get hongbaos and get rich all of a sudden. But this year its quite different haha... My relatives like become so much nicer to me (cuz maybe they miss me when i was gone haha).

And then there are my cousins. This year is officially teh Season of Puberty in our family historical record. Everybody is having puberty. Thats cuz most of my cousins are now in the sec 1 - sec 2 range. That cousin who used to keep crawling under the table all the time during family dinners and pulling shoelaces off everyone's feet; now become so deep voiced and manly. It feels wrong to me. And then there's the wonder-twins (thats what we call them). Both of them oso puberty liao, but i was hoping that one of them reach puberty faster than the other. That will be quite amusing, for twins.

Just had a chalet with my sec school doods yesterday and had quite alot of fun. Didnt take much pics and all the pics taken are crap so not gonna post them up (its up on facebook anyway). Still, had lots of funny moments playing indian poker and other board games. Almost all gonna ORD liao. And since my class is all boys, this is the moment to celebrate. To freedom. haha...

And then met up with my 1405 peeps, twice. Had movies and dinners together, twice. Attendance wasnt that good cuz of last minute planning so gotta try again next week. Hopefully we have abt 15 people lol, considering those who ran away overseas (speaking for myself).

Met up with some of the med and focus peeps too, for fellowship with Pastor David Sankaran at Ben Kuek's house. And then last week I bumped into rahul, ken and ben at the national library and ended up driving down to bukit timah for ice-cream lol. Went back to AJ too with shamini to visit some of the teachers during the cny celebration.

And then there's my church friends. Glad to hear everyone's doing well over there. The elders were suprised when i showed up suddenly haha... Anyway, gonna meet up for dinner with my old bs people this thursday, so... something for me to look forward to haha...

So thats all for these 2 weeks so far. Other than that, its just rottingathomedoingnothing.

Will be back to sydney on the 28th feb. Therefore, ohnoes its only 3 weeks left!!!

Just recently went to a concert at GRI church (and now currently the biggest and newest church in jakarta) with my family and some church friends. Performed lots of great pieces by G.F.Handel.

The excitement of countdown is over. I can hear fireworks all over my neighbourhood. Btw for all those who didnt know, fireworks is legal in indo haha... Though i think its pretty and exciting, it seems like i have grown out of it. haha... Old age is a cruel thing.

I remember last year when me and my church friends had steamboat at one of our houses and awaiting countdown. Then as the clock is about to hit twelve, it started to rain. But... we don't really care haha... We still stubbornly went out and try to light up the fireworks in the wet weather. And then we were joined by some other neighbours who also had more fireworks. Then somewhere in the distant, another neighbourhood came up with better fireworks and we were jealous and stuff, and so we compete to see who finish first. Hmmm... though i see no point in the competition, at least it makes the night more interesting. haha...

this year? i rather spend it with my family. I think my church friends are probably having fun right now doing the exact same thing. But ohwells, not that i regret my choice haha...

anyway speaking of drawings, i just made one for dan and fat on their wedding. Its quite a while back though

very satisfied with the result. haha... used my new wacom pen tablet, so it looks so much nicer than my previous drawings.

and about the poses. I think i never seen any wedding couple doing that, just my weird imagination haha... but i still think Dan might pose like that. But Fat? mike says she looks like she is asking for money lol. i was intending to draw her throwing flower petals or confetti, but ohwells haha... too lazy for that much detail.

Anyway, i'm really grateful for Dan and Fat for their bible studies and helping me to grow spiritually this year. I feel that they have given me a new perspective to the bible and understand things that makes me love Jesus more and more. And i really love them both as teachers and friends.

Season of Giving

What is the meaning of Christmas? Do we expect parties or presents or cards from friends or families on Christmas?

Christmas is a season of giving. God has given us the ultimate and perfect gift for us on this christmas day, and that is his son Jesus Christ.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

"This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." (I John 4:10)

And God also commands us to love one another, not only on Christmas, but in every day of our lives. "since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." (1 John 4:11). Christmas is a reminder of God's love for his people to send his only Son to die on the cross. And it is only because of His love for us that he can offer such a perfect gift for His people.

This was in the sermon just now, and i find this message a good reminder of true meaning behind chrismas. Apart from that, we also had an exchange of present among my church haha... I got a diary (yay)

And yesterday I went for a christmas carol in one of my church member's house. Quite an impressive turn-up, about 20+ of us were there.

Just last week, nian fel and ying came to jakarta for a 4 days trip and (naturally) i have to bring them around. Didnt get to meet them on the first day, and so they got lost (as usual) haha...

We did lots of touring around the country and i saw things that i never knew before about my own country lol. How ironic for a tour guide. Anyway, some pics on day 3:

And then we went to Pondok Laguna for dinner. Loved the ambience of the place. Feels so indo-ish. Sitting on the wooden benches, surrounded by a fish pond and waterfall. haha... the only thing that irritates me was the mozzies!

Guilt

haha watched a sermon on tv that i think is worth sharing. Trying to recall what i have learnt on it.

Guilt is a feeling of responsibility to what you should do. It can be civil guilt, biblical guilt or psychological guilt. Ultimately, you feel guilty when you do things which u shouldnt do, ie. sin, and it is good because it is the work of the holy spirit.

But is it right to hold on to guilt?

From John 3:17-16...

"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

Therefore, we are free from condemnation because Jesus' blood has washed away our sins.

However, if we are still holding on to guilt and unable to disconnect it, even after Jesus has pardoned us, it is the work of the devil to keep us away from the grace of God.

And should we feel guilty now?

In 1 Peter 2:24, "He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we may die to sins and live to righteousness; you have been healed."

If we accepted Jesus, He has taken our sins and acts as a substitute to take the blame of our sins. And now we have the stamp of "not guilty" on our self. He has paid the price.

In Romans 5:16, "the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgement followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift folowed many trespasses and brought justification."

And if Jesus paid for one sin, he paid for all of them. And if he has pardoned our sins, he will never bring it up again and use it against us. But IF he did bring it up again, it is to remind us of what God has done FOR us to get us through the guilt in order to strengthen us.

To conclude, guilt is good because it makes us realise our sins. But we have a God who can pardon our sins, in past, present, and future, because of Jesus who is our substitute to pay the perfect price of our sins. Therefore, we are free from condemnation and should rejoice because of the Grace that God has given upon us.

hmm... a sermon which i think is worth mentioning haha... Amen to that.

Until my mom had to fax over a sing-indo flight ticket then they allow me through. somemore internet there must pay and the free station doesnt work. And once i touch down, THEY LEFT MY LUGGAGE BEHIND!!! i only managed to get it back 2 days later. rawr! how awesome can BA get, man.

but anyway i can taste authentic chicken rice and meepok again here so i can die happy without regrets haha...

the right motivation

just had a one-to-one session with weibin which i find is quite fulfilling and worthwhile.

We discussed on what it means to read the Bible.

is it based on our feelings, like when we feel like or want to read the bible.
Or is it because of our knowledge that it is right that we should read the bible.

and for what purpose do we read it?

is it to fulfil our responsibility as a Christian to do our daily readings?
or is it to equip ourselves with the knowledge so that tell other about it.

... and after much discussion we finally come into a conclusion

Ultimately, we have to read the Word because of our love for God.

It is not just based on feelings because sometimes feelings is inconsistent. So, if we rely on feelings we would stop our readings if we dont feel like it.

And if its based on head knowledge that it is only right to read the bible, then it would seem like a chore or daily routine. Of course, this is still important for us to make sure that we keep on reading the bible even if we do not feel like it. But that should not be our main drive.

and for what purpose do we read it?

If u have a girlfriend and you spend time with her, do you do it so that u can fulfill your requirement for the day, or do you do it to tell your friends all about her?

likewise, we spend time with God not because for our sense of achievement or not because for others around us, but because we love Him.

In conclusion, we read the bible because of our love for God. And through this we are only able to equip ourselves well so that we can defend our faith to others who question our hope.

I went out with my bible study group to Sydney Fishmarket. Recce around the market for good and reasonably priced seafood that we can find, mostly raw cuz we cant cook it. So we ate raw salmon aka sashimi, raw oysters, raw scallops. Ordered 2 large seafood platters and cooked prawns as well and then went for a picnic nearby...

hmm... hadnt had a picnic in a long time. And definitely hadnt had seafood in ages too cuz my college dun serve any except fish fillets and calamari rings, but they dun really count cuz they all taste =_=
Also, the seafood they sold in fishmarket are usually fresh since they are caught in the morning and sold immediately.

haha... awesome! other than that... more of assignments and projects and lectures to catch up on kthnxbai

Newcastle, Port Stevens and Hunter Valley Trip

sian... back to the usual life of mugging again. But definely had an awesome holidays for the whole week. Couldn't be more satisfied haha... Explored beyond sydney with the med peeps. Didnt took any pics becoz my hp cam too lousy and would undermine the beauty of the scenery, so decided not to use it :p

shall use some of the pics i got off facebook instead. haha... thanks to those who posted it: jordan, mingfei, michael, manuel, kengyang, oi, doie, jennifer and christie.

Day 1: Shoal Bay & Soldier's Point

the house that mingfei rented: it costs abt $48 per person for 3 days ($16/day) and can fit all 11 of us. Awesome accomodation for such a cheap price.

Day 2: Hunter Valley

Went to Port Stevens the following morning. But didnt do much there except taking more pics haha...

and then we set off to hunter valley, where jordan, manuel and his sister joined us.

There are a total of over 20 wineries in hunter valley but we went to only about 5 of them haha... no time to cover everything.

And all the wineries allowed free wine tasting. SO... we drank quite abit and i felt kinda drunk at the end of it all. Everyone bought at least a bottle of wine back, since its cheap and we got discount for buying in bulk. I got a bottle of mascato white whine for $15

Day 3: Sandboarding + Newcastle

Went down to the beach in the morning

and i took a dip in the ocean

and then we went further up the beach for sandboarding...
its quite amazing how the desert is just further up beside the beach

And then we went off to newcastle. Didnt see much of that city because we had to get back to sydney before sunset. So ended up spending only a couple of hours there, so we just went to some of the recommended tourist spots...

Amazing trip! haha... we had thousands of pics taken together but i picked only some of the good ones with me inside :p

And the best thing about the tip is: we covered everything UNDER $200!!! Thanks to mingfei's awesome planning. Best budget trip ever!

next up is the rural camp at Oakfield, Dunedoo. But I will leave that for another time. haha... *tired*

mmm haha i am quite happy with the picture. But i could have drawn it better. Drawing with in photoshop with a mouse is really hard. I wish i could have a pentop or a tablet pc haha... then it would have been much nicer.

after that just add the colours with photoshop

and add the phinishing touche...

anyway, more on my life this week, HOLIDAYS ARE FINALLY HERE. one week only lah sianz but better than nothing. will be spending the holidays out of sydney yeah! going to newcastle tomorrow and then rural camp trip with medicine fac on friday.

just had MedShow on thursday. Really funny but not as good as Med Revue though. some of the lines which i manage to pick out...

and it was Baxter's Love week last week haha... didnt do much for my assigned 'love parter' hahaha... bought a flower thats all. First time in my life i actually buy flowers *blush*

But there were many awesome stuffs that my college people did to impress each other haha... One Law Girl went to crash our Medicine Lecture and hijacked the lecturer's mike halfway to sing a love song with her guitar. mmm awesome. Then at night the guy went to the quad lawn outside baxter and make a huge heart shape with candles for her (remember Grey's Anatomy season 5?). Very sweet haha...

Another similar case. Another guy went to hijack another lecture to sing a love song for her, but he was damn sway cuz the girl happen to pon that lecture on that day hahahaha... then to make up for it, she sang back to him at the Dining Hall. mmm...

hahaha finally finished my exams. wheee!!!
been celebrating for the past few days.

Soccer straight right after the papers with all the med guys. There were like almost 30 of us, together with other fac students too. Met many random people but still had a good time running about the green grass chasing after one ball.

Den for thursday and friday overnight DoTA session haha... played from like 11pm all the way until the next day noon. Was like "oh the sun is up already" and like "oh its time for lunch" hahahaha... but hmmm hadnt played so much in a long time. Finally had a chance to let it all out... roar!

Anyway the paper was crap. Didnt finish. Everything in a mess. Essay questions so general den dunno wad else to write. Oh wells. Hope everything goes for the best. Have been stuck in the library for 4 days from 9am to 10pm studying together. Hope it is all worthwhile.

Shall post some overdue pics from last week. Didnt had a chance to post anything lately so i shall make up for it.

Little Angel

I got this in an email from my mom. Was like ;) when i read it.

Every Sunday afternoon, after the morning service at the church, the Pastor and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out Gospel Tracts.

This particular Sunday afternoon, as it came time for the Pastor and his son to go to the streets with their tracts, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring down rain. The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, "OK, dad, I'm ready."

His Pastor dad asked, "Ready for what?"

"Dad, it's time we gather our tracts together and go out." Dad responds, "Son, it's very cold outside and it's pouring down rain."

The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, "But Dad, aren't people still going to Hell, even though it's raining?"

Dad answers, "Son, I am not going out in this weather." Despondently, the boy asks, "Dad, can I go? Please?"

His father hesitated for a moment then said, "Son, you can go. Here are the tracts, be careful son."

"Thanks Dad!"

And with that, he was off and out into the rain. his eleven year old boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody he met in the street a Gospel Tract.

After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST TRACT. He stopped on a corner and looked for someone to hand a tract to, but the streets were totally deserted.

Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the sidewalk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody answered. He rang it again and again, but still no one answered. He waited but still no answer.

Finally, this eleven year old trooper turned to leave, but something stopped him. Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch! He rang again and this time the door slowly opened. Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady. She softly asked, "What can I do for you, son?" With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said, "Ma'am, I'm sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that *JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU* and I came to give you my very last Gospel Tract which will tell you all about JESUS and His great LOVE."

With that, he handed her his last tract and turned to leave. She called to him as he departed. "Thank you, son! And God Bless You!"

Well, the following Sunday morning in church Pastor Dad was in the pulpit. As the service began, he asked, "Does anybody have any testimony or want to say anything?"

Slowly, in the back row of the church, an elderly lady stood to her feet As she began to speak, a look of glorious radiance came from her face,

"No one in this church knows me. I've never been here before. You see, before last Sunday I was not a Christian. My husband passed on some time ago, leaving me totally alone in this world. Last Sunday, being a particularly cold and rainy day, it was even more so in my heart that I came to the end of the line where I no longer had any hope or will to live.

So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic of my home. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof, then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck. Standing on that chair, so lonely and brokenhearted I was about to leap off, when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me. I thought, "I'll wait a minute, and whoever it is will go away." I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and more insistent, and then the person ringing also started knocking loudly. I thought to myself again, "Who on earth could this be? Nobody ever rings my bell or comes to see me." I loosened the rope from my neck and started for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.

When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in my life. His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to you! The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long been dead, TO LEAP TO LIFE as he exclaimed with a cherub-like voice, "Ma'am, I just came to tell you that JESUS REALLY DOES LOVE YOU." Then he gave me this Gospel Tract that I now hold in my hand.

As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain I closed my door and read slowly every word of this Gospel Tract. Then I went up to my attic to get my rope and chair. I wouldn't be needing them any more.

You see---I am now a Happy Child of the KING. Since the address of your church was on the back of this Gospel Tract, I have come here to personally say THANK YOU to God's little angel who came just in the nick of time and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in hell."

There was not a dry eye in the church. And as shouts of praise and honor to THE KING resounded off the very rafters of the building, Pastor Dad descended from the pulpit to the front pew where the little angel was seated.

He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably. Probably no church has had a more glorious moment, and probably this universe has never seen a Papa that was more filled with love & honor for his son... Except for One.

Our Father also allowed His Son to go out into a cold and dark world. He received His Son back with joy unspeakable, and as all of heaven shouted praises and honor to The King, the Father sat His beloved Son on a throne far above all principality and power and every name that is named.

A good reminder of God's Love

havent blog for a long time, but yet not much time to blog anyway, so i am gonna make it brief haha...

exams coming soooon.... And now i am back to the muggermode again.

Drowned by cardiovascularities for this term, example...

i was reading yaya's one-line poem in her blog,
which says "you make my heart skip a beat"
and thats like, a second degree heart block???

and i was thinking some poets should really check their heart conditions

... thats atrial fibrillation. very bad!
or worse ventricular fibrillation, then will go into cardiogenic shock and den DIE!

... okay... i think too much haha...
